My first year as an indie author has given me a lot to celebrate. I released three dark fantasy novels and a collection of short stories. I’ve connected with talented authors and voracious readers I otherwise would never have known.
“Jesse Teller is a new voice in Grimdark fantasy, and if you like your books dark and bloody as hell, then he might as well be your new favorite author.”

To show thanks to my debut readers and followers, I’m giving books away! I’ve just released Mestlven, the last of my standalone novels. Yes, I typed ‘the last’. But don’t panic—I also typed ‘Starter Set’. These books are just the beginning. They set in motion characters that lead into a few upcoming series (serieses? serials? what’s the plural of ‘series’?).
To enter, just follow jesseteller.com via email or WordPress by July 16th. On July 17, 2017, I’ll randomly select winners from my blog followers:
Five (5) winners will receive a digital version of the Perilisc Starter Set: Liefdom, Chaste, Mestlven, and Legends of Perilisc in the format of their choice (mobi, epub, or pdf available).
One (1) grand prize winner will receive signed paperbacks of the Perilisc Starter Set: Liefdom, Chaste, Mestlven, and Legends of Perilisc.
When I made the decision to self-publish my work, I had no idea what kind of reactions it would get. I’ve been talking to myself for years, writing one book after the next and boxing them and shoving them in a closet. It was a learning experience. It was a lonely experience, but now I am watching my readership expand and it is so affirming. The continent of Perilisc is dear to me, and it has many more stories to share.
“So many of the other characters are not what they seem from beginning to end. You’ll end up loving characters you’re supposed to hate, and characters you trust will betray you. I won’t say that there is a happy ending, but sometimes you settle for just having peace.”
—Literary Titan Book Review
This October, I’ll start releasing The Manhunters, a trilogy about Rayph Ivoryfist during the years after Liefdom. In 2019, I plan to launch an epic series, The Madness Wars, that picks up from the end of Mestlven and takes us through the Drine-Tienne war including The Escape. We’ll see more from Sai, Saykobar, and a large cast of new characters. Both of these serieseses are already written and will just need editing and proofreading before publication.
“Jesse Teller writes with raw intensity. His stories are deep and dark yet they illuminate the beauty within.”
—Kyra Leary, Libro Illustrato
